CARE AND CARING: An Interdependent Relationship – The Health Impact of Caring: Evidence Brief
To delve deeper into the dynamics of care and caring, members of the IACO identified a broader need to specifically understand the impact of caring on the health of both carers and care recipients. This evidence brief provides initial insights into key well-being variables and will be used as an evidence-based foundation for actions to address the universal needs of carers around the globe.

Global State of Care Report
IACO has launched its landmark Global State of Care report, supported by Embracing Carers™. The report is the foundation for the development of a global strategy that will improve the quality of life and support the needs of all unpaid carers around the world.
It examines the ways that individual countries and governments are beginning to support unpaid caregivers, while highlighting the areas in which more support is needed.

Innovative Carer Practices
Building on the Global State of Care report, Innovative Carer Practices (ICPs) are knowledge tools identified by IACO and its partner Embracing Carers™, that showcase evidence-informed policies and/or practices that address carers’ needs through integrated health and social care.
This project facilitates the awareness and spread of promising carer practices around the world.

International Study on Carers of Persons with Heart Failure
The International Alliance of Carer Organizations (IACO) has launched a first-of-its-kind study examining the role and impact of heart failure caregiving. The study was supported by Novartis.
Findings reveal that despite the important influence caregivers have on the quality of life of heart failure patients, there is a significant unmet need for caregiver resources and support. The report studied carers in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Acknowledging and Aiding Carers: A Guide to Supporting Carers in Your Nation
IACO has released a global carers toolkit intended to foster the development and expansion of the infrastructure needed to support carers and the people for whom they care in countries around the world. The toolkit covers a wide range of topics drawing on the expertise of the carer nonprofits in the IACO member nations and other global examples of carer supports.
The toolkit was funded by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.
Topics include: Starting a National Carer Organization, Creating a Strategic Plan, Communication and Carer Organizations, Impact of Caring on the Carers’ Health, Caring and Employment, Young Carers, Rural Carers, Assessment of Carer Needs, Respite Care, Adult Day Services, Technology and Carers, and End-of-Life Issues Faced by Carers.
