SUPPORTING CARERS
THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HAS IMPACTED CARERS AROUND THE WORLD
IACO recognizes the invaluable role of carers during these challenging times. Working alongside the formal health care system, carers continue to provide support and care to someone with a physical disability, a debilitating cognitive condition or a chronic life-limiting illness. IACO members are working with their country authorities to provide accurate information and resources to ensure carers and their loved ones are safe.
The Global Carer Well-Being Index Who Cares for Carers? Perspectives on COVID-19 Pressures and Lack of Support
The 2020 Carer Well-Being Index, Embracing Carers aims to detail the ways in which the pandemic disproportionally harms carers around the globe—and to identify key societal solutions and specific actions that can address their needs during the pandemic and beyond. The 12-country global survey, fielded Sept. 3-Oct. 27, 2020, was commissioned by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany as part of their Embracing Carers™ initiative. The study surveyed a total of over 9,000 unpaid carers across U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Taiwan, India and China (n=750 surveyed in each country).
As a carer, it is important for you to be informed and know who to contact if you have any concerns. IACO members are working with their country authorities to provide accurate information and resources to ensure carers and their loved ones are safe.
